Three-day bike tour north of Chiang Mai
Code: CNX-CLMD
Departure at 8:30 am
Overview
This three days Chiang Mai bike tour north of Chiang Mai gives you a complete idea about the beautiful area north of Chiang Mai. You can witness the farmer's daily life, elephants at work and also enjoy the comfort of very good accommodation and good food. The biking is on well-planned routes down quiet roads and lanes, chosen for the interest and contact with the Thai countryside and Thai way of life. This bike tour is for people who have a good level of fitness and an interest in biking.

Day 1: About 65 km mainly flat with 10 km slightly uphill. (L, D)
After a short safety briefing, we start cycling down narrow lanes and alleyways, leaving Chiang Mai quickly behind us. After leaving the city we follow the Ping River to north. We cycle through beautiful ever changing scenery, with orchards, paddy fields, irrigation canals and small villages. You will enjoy the countryside as only a cyclist can see. The overnight stop is at a beautiful resort nestled on the banks of the river Ping with a swimming pool. (Thai massage available)
Day 2: About 40 km, with 4 km uphill. (B, L, D)
Early in the morning, we visit the nearby Thang Dao elephant camp and observe these beautiful animals while bathing. This morning ritual is followed by a demonstration of the work they used to do in the forest. Afterwards, you can make a trip on the back of an elephant. Following the visit to the elephant camp, we continue cycling and visit a fancy temple rarely visited by foreigners. The second night is spend at a small, but superb resort in the middle of nowhere with a very nice swimming pool with a stunning view. (The food is great and very good Thai massage is available)
Day 3: About 50 km. (B, L)
The first 30 km of today’s cycling is on one of my favourite routes, very good country roads and very nice, ever changing scenery. There are plenty of different things to see and to visit during the next couple km, if this is your cup of tea off course. An orchid farm may be worth a visit. Once you leave the Mae Rim area, you are cycling on quiet country roads again. Soon afterwards you will join the Ping River that will lead you back to Chiang Mai.
